Crossroads
In the journey of the sacred, there is much to satisfy
But there along the landscape, are distractions to the eye
What glitters in the distance, Could be an ambush to the heart
Seducing our attention, to sway our footsteps from their start
It is there upon the crossroads, we are confronted by our lust
Will we yield to its temptation? Or pass it by to walk in trust
To focus on the treasure, of life beyond what we can see
Takes a faith securely fastened, in what is true, eternally
If our hearts will choose the pathway, to walk His will and way alone
Committed to His wisdom, He will lead us safely home
But bitter disappointment, Awaits the ones who are deceived
Who run to chase illusions, and leave the freedom they’ve received
As we come upon the crossroads, we must tread with greatest care
There are pitfalls meant to harm us, there are traps laid out to snare
These are baited with the promise that a sidetrack will not harm
But this detour is quite lethal in its captivating charm
Our Father built this pathway and sent His Son to show the way
His light will guide our footsteps and His peace will lead each day
Still, the crossroads where we falter is the place within our soul
When we enthrone a lesser purpose than His love to be the goal
The mystery of this crisis, is the Lord’s will crossed with my mine
I must choose by my submission to lay my self down on that line
And yet there is a greater journey that my eyes have yet to see
As my Lord picked up His own cross, when He died in place of me
